Product Overview

Instapay is building a consumer-facing person-to-person (P2P) payments platform designed for verified users in the United States. The platform is intended to allow individuals to send and receive money directly between verified bank accounts, with a focus on trust, compliance, and responsible financial access.

Instapay is designed from the ground up with compliance as a core requirement — not an afterthought. The platform intends to implement identity verification, bank account linking, transaction monitoring, prohibited-use controls, and customer dispute handling before enabling any real-money services.

Instapay is not a bank and does not intend to hold customer funds directly. The platform is designed to operate through regulated financial infrastructure provided by approved partner institutions, subject to applicable agreements and regulatory requirements.

Current Status

Instapay is currently in pre-launch development. The platform is not yet live and is not currently enabling real-money transfers, processing payments, holding customer funds, or providing any regulated financial services.

Intended Partners

Instapay intends to build its platform on approved, regulated financial infrastructure. The following describes the categories of partners Instapay intends to engage, subject to review, contract approval, technical certification, and compliance requirements. No partnership agreements are currently in place.

Bank Account Linking

Instapay intends to use a user-permissioned bank-linking provider to allow users to securely connect external bank accounts. This would enable account verification and facilitate fund transfers, subject to user consent, partner approval, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Identity Verification

Instapay intends to implement a Know Your Customer (KYC) identity verification process using an approved identity verification provider. This would include document verification, identity matching, and sanctions screening before users can access payment features.

Money Movement & Payment Infrastructure

Instapay intends to partner with a regulated financial institution or banking-as-a-service provider to provide the underlying account and payment infrastructure required to move funds between users. This partnership is subject to sponsor bank approval and applicable regulatory requirements.

Fraud Controls

Instapay intends to implement fraud detection and prevention controls, which may include transaction monitoring, velocity checks, device fingerprinting, and behavioral analytics, using approved third-party providers or internal systems.

Regulated Account & Payment Infrastructure

Instapay intends to operate through a regulated infrastructure provider — such as a banking-as-a-service platform — that provides regulated account structures, payment rails, and compliance infrastructure, subject to that provider's approval and applicable regulatory requirements.

Risk Controls

Instapay is designing its risk and compliance framework to meet the requirements of its intended financial partners and applicable law. The following risk controls are planned for implementation before any real-money services are enabled.

Identity Verification (KYC)

Required before users can access payment features. Includes document verification and identity matching.

Transaction Limits

Per-transaction, daily, and monthly limits designed to reduce exposure and meet partner requirements.

Velocity Monitoring

Automated monitoring of transaction frequency and volume to detect unusual patterns.

Prohibited-Use Controls

Defined prohibited-use policy with enforcement mechanisms including transaction blocking and account restriction.

Suspicious Activity Review

Internal review process for flagged transactions, with escalation procedures and SAR filing capability where required.

Customer Support

Dedicated support channel for account issues, unauthorized activity reports, and compliance inquiries.

Dispute Handling

Defined error resolution and dispute process, including investigation timelines and corrective action procedures.

Account Restrictions

Ability to place holds, restrict activity, or close accounts in response to risk signals or compliance requirements.

Technical Readiness

Instapay is building its technical infrastructure with production-readiness and security as primary goals. The following technical capabilities are planned for completion before any real-money services are enabled.

HTTPS & Transport Security: All platform traffic encrypted in transit using TLS. No sensitive data transmitted over unencrypted channels.
Secure API Architecture: API design following security best practices including authentication, authorization, input validation, and rate limiting.
Audit Logging: Comprehensive logging of account actions, administrative operations, and system events to support compliance review and incident investigation.
Ledger & Reconciliation: Internal ledger system designed to track account balances and transaction history, with reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy against partner records.
Webhook Handling: Secure webhook infrastructure for receiving and processing real-time event notifications from financial partners, with signature verification and idempotency controls.
Environment-Based Configuration: Strict separation of development, staging, and production environments. Secrets and credentials managed through secure configuration systems, not source code.
